Rick

 Sheehan

Rick is a mentor and board member who strives to improve the lives of the veterans and their families physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Rick is an Army veteran who went on to the building and construction business. He now serves as a diagnosis AODA counselor, a regional suicide prevention "Gate Keeper," Red Cross blood drive volunteer, and a Salvation Army disaster response volunteer! Rick feels that he is susceptible to  the transference of others emotions and their pain and feels a strongly about helping those individuals. 

Brian

Sengbusch

Brian is a native of Green Bay, WI, and was born on 15 April, 1959.  He enlisted in the Army on 15 April, 1977 & retired as a Command Sergeant Major. Brian currently serves as mentor & board member here at Horse Spirit. He also volunteers for the Honor Guard at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery & serves in various Officer positions in several Veteran organizations. On is off time, Brian enjoys working on his Jeep, target shooting, and working out.

Alysia

Smith

Alysia is a 13 year Army Veteran who is, now, a Case Manager at the Northland Community Services, board member and mentor here at Horse Spirit. Alysia has a BS in Psychology from the University of Maryland and a MA in Human Service Counseling with a cognate in addiction and recovery. To add to her academic accomplishments, Alysia earned her certificate in military resilience which focuses on the mental health issues such as PTSD and TBI. She hopes to soon start her journey in obtaining her license as a substance abuse counselor in the near future. In her off time, she loves to learn new things, helping others, and most importantly, being with her family.

Traci

Schellhammer

Traci spent the 10 years in the United States Army serving as both a Military Police Officer and as a Patriot Missile Launching Station Operator/Maintainer. She has been going to American Military University since 2012 going for her bachelors in Criminal Justice, but will be changing her degree to Sociology. Her hobbies include working on puzzles, ATV riding, hunting, fishing, working with animals, working on anything mechanical, and hanging out with other veterans. She currently has a fun job working security at the LCO casino in Hayward. Her future goals include moving into her new house and finishing her degree.

Gloria is a board member here at Horse Spirit and is currently looking forward to retirement. Gloria was recently promoted to VP-Senior Mortgage Loan Officer and has served as an officer for the last 15 years. In her near retirement, Gloria hopes to travel to as many of the State Parks she can to hike and do some trail riding! She also looks forward to spending more time with her family and more specifically, her grandchildren so that she can get to know them better before they head off to college! Over her life here in Hayward, Gloria has been an active and contributing member to the community. She has worked with many non-profits which include (but are not limited to!): Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Hayward Food Shelf, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. When she's not volunteering her time, you can find Gloria snuggled up with a good book or a movie and a large bowl of popcorn!

Nicole

Cazares

Nicole is a Marine Corps Veteran who serves on the board and is a mentor here at Horse Spirit. She is a native of the U.P. of Michigan and moved here to the area two years ago with her husband and their three cats, Jack, Jasmine, and Jepson! She is currently attending WITC for her degree in Management and hopes to attend UW-Superior in the spring to further and broaden her education. In her off time, Nicole enjoys spending time exploring with her husband, being outside (camping, hiking, & hunting!), watching baseball & football (Go Cubs/Go Pack!), riding her motorcycle, and most of all, being with her family.

Pat

Wharton

Paul is a retired Army veteran who strives to positively impact those we serve here at Horse Spirit. He is very active in numerous local veteran organizations and serves as a voice for veterans in doing so. Paul has been very successful in his academic career which includes a MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. 

Renee 

Brown

Renee has been with Horse Spirit since 2014. She serves on the Board of Directors and is a mentor for Veterans. Prior to that, she served in the United States Air Force as a Personnel Manager. After leaving the Air Force, Renee worked and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, majoring in English. Renee is currently employed as an Assistant Veteran Service Officers in Sawyer County and has been working with Veterans for the past six years. Renee’s position offers opportunity to refer and work closely with the Veterans in our program and offer them assistance with other resources and benefits, including health care, disability claims, education, and employment services.  Renee is also a member of the local American Legion Post 218, VFW Post 7233, and AMVETS Post 1998. Along with helping Veterans, Renee’s passion and hobbies include spending time with family—especially her nieces and nephews, camping, hiking, fishing, and photography. She shares her life with her husband Pat and their two dogs and cat: Sparky, Semper, and Milo. Renee will most often be found at Horse Spirit giving her favorite horse, Booner, a hug! 

Pat has been with Horse Spirit since 2014. He serves on the Board of Directors and is a mentor for Veterans. Prior to that, he served in the United States Marine Corps. After leaving the Marines, Pat attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, majoring Wildlife Ecology. Pat is currently employed at the Zoning & Conservation Office in Sawyer County. Pat is a member of the local American Legion Post 218 and AMVETS Post 1998.  In addition to spending time at Horse Spirit, Pat enjoys duck hunting, fishing, and camping.  One of Pat’s future goals is to buy land so he can have a horse of his own! 

Daniel 

Cazares

Daniel is a 5 year United States Marine Corps Veteran who serves on the board and is a mentor for Horse Spirit. Daniel works for a telecommunications company and enjoys the challenges that come with the job. Daniel is also attending Ashford University to pursue a Bachelors in Project Management. Daniel's enjoys hiking, camping, and pretty much anything outdoors!
